Champs Sports “Run With Us” Campaign, featuring
The North Texas Cheetahs w/ Sanya Richards-Ross
On June 22, 2022, we had the opportunity to spend time with 4x Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross as part of the Women in Sports, Run With Us Campaign sponsored by Champs Sports. The evening began with a panel discussion with Sanya Richards-Ross, Robin Beltran, and head coach, Coach Ebony Cuington. During the panel, panelists and athletes shared their personal inspirations and their who runs with them.
At the conclusion, athletes were given running shoes and gear donated by Under Armour. Athletes laced up their new running shoes before running a lap dedicated to those that "Run with them." Coach Ebony dedicated her lap to celebrate the life legacy of our team's founder, Coach Orlando K. McDaniel.

Orlando K. McDaniel

Orlando McDaniel, the wonderful coach who mentored countless athletes as the founder, director, and head coach of the North Texas Cheetahs Elite – in addition to his own outstanding career as a student-athlete – passed away due to complications from COVID-19 on March 28, 2020. He was 59. Starting in 2004, Coach Orlando guided track and field athletes of all ages at the nationally-renowned Dallas/Ft. Worth-area club. They included numerous NBN Champions and All-Americans, Texas state champions and podium finishers, and Youth/Club standouts at every level – with scores of them earning college scholarships from the top D1 programs on down.
